The Impossible Octophant

I’ve been pretty hush-hush waiting for this to be a surprise which is what is happening now. Surprise! I made this new Octophant and it’s going to live outside in Grant Park all summer.

It’s a promotional poster for the completely real and alive Octophant which was on display during the 1933 Century of Progress Exposition. Yes, of course that really happened. Don’t Google it.

The long-rumored, much-clamored-for return of the Chi-Noceros has finally occurred. Just in time (ok, not quite, actually) for the 175th birthday of the City of Chicago, I present two variants of the second edition Chi-Noceros:

Chi-Noceros, Second Edition, a small print run on French Speckletone Kraft paper…

AND/OR

Chi-Noceros, Second Edition (Dusk), a very small print run on French Steel Blue paper.

There are not a ton of these available, and I’ve never done a third edition of anything, so if you want one please proceed expeditiously.

“Dapper, you say? Sir, you insult me. I can respect your plainly keen eye for the finest bespoke haberdashery and your appreciation of the same. But to imply that my manner of dress is self-consciously beyond that of any proper gentleman is pure effrontery! Do you take me for a preening dandy, Sir? A foppish twit? I am simply attired in a style suitable and fitting to a squid of my social station and I certainly do not have time for your knavery. Good day to you!”

“I said ‘good day,’ sir!”

This print was done in conjunction with Nevermind Gallery who are selling the green-squid-on-red paper version, while the red-squid-on-blue-paper version is available here. You are encouraged to buy both with all haste.

I got interviewed by Chicago Magazine.

Well, for their blog.

I sounded less dumb than I expected to.

All I knew for sure when I agreed to do a poster for Noah & the Whale was that it wouldn’t have a whale or a Noah on it. On those terms I guess it’s pretty successful.

Poster for the soon-opening Strange Trees premiere of The Spirit Play.

Some salient features of this poster are iridescent purple and glow-in-the-dark green inks. Yes, it totally glows. And it looks kind of amazing under a black light. Take note, stoners.

Can be boughtened at the show (yes, obviously you should go see the show) or from me after the show is over.
